Voting in Orleans Parish
Orleans Parish has two permanent locations open to the public Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (with the of exception holidays). Both locations are available to the public within these hours of operation listed for voter registration needs and other related election purposes.

To Qualify to Vote You Must:
be a U.S. Citizen;
be at least 17 years old, but must be 18 years old by the next election to vote;
16 years old may only register in person at the Registrar of Voters Office or at the Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles and will not be able to vote until 18 years old
not be under an order of imprisonment for conviction of a felony;
not be under a judgment of full interdiction for mental incompetence or partial interdiction with suspension of voting rights
reside in the state parish in which you seek to register.
Ways to Register
Register Online
Apply online to register to vote or make changes to your registration.
Registering to vote or changing your registration is easy using this online application.
Once you have completed the application you will be allowed to either print and mail your application or, if verified by the Office of Motor Vehicles, submit your application electronically. If you plan to submit electronically you must have your Louisiana driver's license or Louisiana special ID card in hand when you begin the process. There is an audit code on the card that you must enter. The audit code is a four digit number labeled AUDIT on the front of the license.
Register in Person
Apply in person to register to vote at any Registrar of Voters’ Office.
Orleans Parish locations include: Main Office in City Hall at 1300 Perdido St. Room 1W24 and the branch office in the Algiers Courthouse at 225 Morgan St., Room 105. Office hours are 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
When registering to vote at the Registrar of Voters’ Office, applicants are required to provide the following: Current Louisiana driver’s license or Louisiana ID / Birth certificate
Applicants without the above documents may present their social security card, utility bill, payroll check, and/or other government documents that include the applicants' name, address, and signature.

Ways to Vote
Early Vote
Orleans Parish voters may vote early from 14 to 7 days prior to any scheduled election at the following locations:
City Hall, 1300 Perdido St., Room 1W24, New Orleans, LA 70112
Algiers Courthouse, 225 Morgan St., Room 105, New Orleans, LA 70114
Lake Vista Community Center, 6500 Spanish Fort Blvd, New Orleans, LA 70122 (2nd Floor Meeting Room)
Voting Machine Warehouse, 8870 Chef Menteur Highway, New Orleans, LA 70127
All early voting locations will be open be from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. for each day of early voting, except Sundays and state holidays.
Early voters will need to present a Louisiana Driver's License/ ID or sign a voter affidavit.
Vote on Election Day
Voters will need to report to their assigned polling location on Election day. The polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m for Municipal and Parochial elections. During Congressional Elections, the polls operate from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. You can find your polling location by calling the Registrar of Voters Office at (504) 658-8300 or by using the Louisiana polling locator.
Present one of the following at the polling location: Louisiana Driver's license/ ID /Photo ID with a signature
Voters without the above will be asked to complete and sign an affidavit provided by the commissioner.

Additional Voter Information
Inactive Voters in Orleans Parish
If your name appears on the inactive voters list, you are still eligible to vote. However, your registration address must be verified by the Registrar of Voters' Office.
If your residential address has changed from the address you used when you registered to vote, you must update your voter registration record. Voters not doing so may be listed as inactive voters.
Updates to your residential address can be completed online at www.GeauxVote.com, at the polls, during early voting, or at the Registrar of Voters Office. Address changes may also be mailed to the Registrar of Voters Office in City Hall, Room 1W24, New Orleans, LA 70112.
Pathway Project
This effort offers assistance to persons formerly incarcerated who may be on or have completed parole mandates and are seeking avenues to reinstate their civil right to vote. Election personnel clarify and provide information and procedures relative to voter reinstatement, voter registration, and other information. For further information, contact the Registrar of Voters office at (504)658-8300, and ask for assistance through the Pathway Project.
Reinstatement for Formerly Incarcerated Voters
The registration of a person whose registration has been suspended pursuant to R.S. 18:176(A) shall be reinstated when the person appears in the office of the registrar and provides documentation from the appropriate correction official showing that such person is no longer under an order of imprisonment or, if the person is under such an order, that the person has not been incarcerated pursuant to the order within the last five years and the person is not under an order of imprisonment related to a felony conviction pursuant to election fraud or any other election offense pursuant to R.S. 18:1461.2. Documents may be submitted to City Hall or Algiers Courthouse locations. Please make copies of the required documents. Once inside, ask receptionist to contact the Registrar of Voters Office or call 504-658-8300 upon arrival.
Absentee Ballots
Louisiana offers absentee ballots by mail to voters who will be unable to vote in person. Absentee ballots should be requested as far in advance of the election as possible. When your mail ballot arrives, read it carefully and follow the instructions to complete and return it. Please be aware of standard mail delivery times and the return ballot deadline when applying for a mail ballot to ensure your voted ballot is received by the registrar of voters before the deadline. Completed absentee ballots may only be hand delivered to City Hall or Algiers Courthouse. Hand delivery certification form must be completed if returning a ballot for someone other than yourself.
The deadline to request an absentee by mail ballot is November 9 by 4:30 p.m.
The deadline for the Registrar of Voters to receive a voted mail ballot is November 12 by 4:30 pm.(other than military and overseas voters).

Voters can find their polling location and sample ballot by downloading the GeauxVote Mobile app for smartphones or by visiting www.GeauxVote.com.
Voters should bring an ID with them to vote (Louisiana driver’s license, Louisiana Special ID card, a generally recognized picture identification card with name and signature such as a passport or a digital license via LA Wallet). Voters without an ID will be required to fill out an affidavit but will be allowed to vote.
